        …Lemuel Lanier, whose will was recorded in Robertson Co., Tenn., in 1817. He had a daughter, Martha, who married John S. Fagan, who served in the Battle of King’s Mountain. They had a son Robert Lanier Fagan, who served in the war of 1812 and was great grandfather of Mrs. H. H. Neill, widow of Chief Justice Neill of San Antonio, Texas.

        Tennessee</line><line /><line>In the name of God Amen. I Lemuel Lanier of the county of Rutherford in the State on Tennessee do make ordain &amp; dictate this instrument of writing to be my last will and Testament revoking all others, Imprimaces all my debts are to be speedily and punctually paid.</line><line /><line>Items To my dearly beloved wife, Lucy Lanier I lend during her natural life one negro woman known by the name of Dafney. Also one negro man known by the name of Daniel, together with all my household and kitchen furniture with all my farming utensils, with one bay horse, know by the name of Dick with all my stock of Cattle of hogs together with one years provision for herself &amp; two negroes above named___+</line><line /><line>Item" to my beloved daughter Patsey Fagan and her lawful heirs I give and devise at my death, one negro woman named Grace and if she should have issue, be it male or female my will and desire is that it should belong to my grandson Robert Fagan and if said negro Grace as above named should have more children than one it is my will and desire that they shall belong to the lawful heirs of said Patsey Fagan to come in rotation, that is younger than said Robert Fagan______________</line><line /><line>Item. To my beloved daughter Betsey Floyd and her lawful heirs, I give and devise in addition to what I have heretofore given her one cow &amp; calf to be valued at Ten Dollars, after the death of my wife the property heretofore given her is one negro woman known by the (I belive that left out "name of") Beck. One negro boy know by the name of Joseph one ditto known by the name of Alex.</line><line /><line>Item To my beloved gransons, Samuel L. Kelly and Abner Kelly I give and devise at my death two negro boys, one by the name of William the other by the name of Anthony &amp; at the death of my wife one negro woman named Dafney which said three negroes are to be equally divided between said Samuel &amp; Abner, by my executors hereafter named and should eith of said Samuel L. Kelly or Abner Kelly die without heir I wish the surviving brother to inherit the whold of the others estate, and should they both die without heir, it is my will &amp; desire that the whole of their property should be equally divided between my two daughters to wit Patsey Fagan &amp; Betsey Floyd.</line><line /><line>Item. I also give and bequeath to my aforesaid Grandsons Samuel L. Kelly &amp; Abner Kelly two feather beds with the furniture belonging to the same one for each, also to Samuel L Kelly one grey horse known by the name of Bob. To Abner Kelly one black colt, together with one cow &amp; calf each at the death of my wife. Also one sow &amp; pigs each - One pottle (?) and kettle (?) each with all my farming utensils all to be their property as before described at the death of my wife.</line><line /><line>Item. At the death of my wife my will and desires is that my negro man named Daniel should belong to my grandson Richard Floyd.</line><line /><line>Item. Lastly. It is my will &amp; desire &amp; I do therefore constitute and appoint my trusty friend Jessee Brashears &amp; Drury Floyd Executors to this my last will &amp; testament.
